Vodafone Admits Samsung Galaxy S2’s GPS Bug
30th November 2011
Vodafone officially admitted to the media that an Android update for the Samsung Galaxy S2 has affected the handset’s GPS. The carrier issued an update to its customers last week but the Android 2.3.3 upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy S2 made it impossible for the phone’s GPS capabilities to lock on satellite signals.
Sources say that Vodafone is still investigating the cause of the problem, since the updates for Android have a tendency to affect different phones and certain networks. This is understandable, experts believe, because networks and phone makers integrate their own apps and user interface tweaks into the Android software.
The extras can interfere with the Android system which seems to be what has occurred with Vodafone’s Samsung Galaxy S2.
Gone are the days when technology did what it had to do they say but these folks are probably being nostalgic and one can be sure that a little tweaking here and there was needed too during those times.
However, the gadgets we have now are more likely to breakdown because of apps or bugs in apps or what old folks would call minor details. Examples of this is Apple iPhone 4S’s battery issue, the iPhone 4’s antennagate or the Galaxy Nexus’s volume bug.
