Sony doesn’t appear to be quite through making new smartphones scheduled for an early 2013 release. The Xperia Z and Xperia ZL made quite a splash at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show, but there’s a possibility we may be seeing at least one more at the 2013 Mobile World Congress. One of these phones could be the C530X, a phone codenamed HuaShan.
Images of this purported smartphone have been spotted in the wild, and here we can see the external features of the yet-unannounced device. It will share one feature with the Xperia Z and Xperia ZL – power button located on the side.
The specifications appear to be closer to a midrange handset rather than another powerhouse like the Xperia Z or Xperia ZL. The HuaShan/C530X will supposedly be powered by a dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, an Adreno 320 GPU and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, but aside from that, there isn’t much else known. The screen size is still unknown, but the leaks suggest it will have 720p resolution. Doesn’t say much, but that will have to do for now.
There may actually be four HuaShan handsets unveiled later on in the year, as there are three supposed model numbers for this family of devices – C5302, C5303 and C5306. Don’t expect the other three to be much different from the C530X. Our guess is that these phones will be part of Sony’s midrange offerings, now that the company has announced the Xperia Z and ZL and promised a first quarter 2013 release schedule.
