The Galaxy Nexus, the first-ever smartphone to ship with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, is considered as one of the top challengers to the Apple iPhone 4S. The white Galaxy Nexus will be released for UK customers on February 13 and has been priced at £499, same price as an unlocked 16GB iPhone 4S.
The features of the white Galaxy Nexus are a virtual mirror image of the black variant. Under the hood specs include a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB RAM. The operating system is the latest Android 4.0.2 Ice Cream Sandwich out-of-the-box, which should correct many of the bugs in the original ICS platform and extend the battery’s longevity.
Pentaband HSPA+ connectivity makes the Galaxy Nexus a better phone for downloading than the iPhone 4 and 4S. Other important features include a 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD Pentile screen, a 5-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing camera for video conferencing.
Prospective buyers expecting a pure-white phone may also be disappointed to find out that the white Galaxy Nexus has a black bezel. Nevertheless, that shouldn’t be much of a hindrance considering that apart from the color, both white and black Galaxy Nexus handsets are one and the same.
