Nokia has already made public their official banner product, the Lumia 900, to launch this year in the North American smartphone market.

The Nokia Lumia 900 – the first to hit US market shelves – will be the third variant to come out of the Lumia series. At the same time, it will also be the first Windows-based phone in the US to come with LTE connectivity.

The phone is expected to make a face off with Samsung’s best seller, the Galaxy S2. The phone became one of the most popular smartphones around during the Android boom. The Galaxy S2 is shipped with the Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform but it’s lined up for an ICS update. Three of the biggest carriers in the US have supported it with Sprint securing the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch variant.

To help the Lumia 900 match up with the Galaxy S2, Nokia has encased within it a 4.3-inch WVGA AMOLED ClearBlack display with a 800×400 pixels resolution.

The Lumia 900 will run on the Windows Phone 7 platform, also known as Mango. It is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm APQ8055 Snapdragon processor and the Adreno 205 GPU.

On the back, the Nokia Lumia 900 showcases an 8-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics while also sporting a 1-megapixel front-facing camera. The Galaxy S2, while with an 8MP back camera as well, wins this part with its 2MP front camera.

The Lumia 900 is said to be carrier-exclusive; honours were given to AT&T.

As it stands, the Nokia phone’s pricing remains undisclosed. Nevertheless, it is assured that its price tag will come with a competitive figure.
